What Porcelain & E-max Veneers involves
A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth to change its colour, shape, length or alignment. Made from lithium disilicate — Ivoclar E-max — it is strong, translucent like enamel and stable in colour, so a veneered smile looks natural rather than painted on. Veneers correct discolouration that whitening cannot, chips and wear, small gaps, mild crowding and teeth that are too short or uneven, in a single visit, without braces and without cutting the teeth down to pegs.
The difference between a good veneer case and a bad one is how much tooth is removed. A well-planned E-max veneer needs 0.3–0.7 mm of enamel shaped from the front surface; the tooth underneath stays alive and largely intact. The "Turkey teeth" problem seen on social media comes from clinics cutting healthy teeth down for full crowns and calling them veneers, which is quicker for the lab and worse for the patient. Our partner clinics plan every case from a digital design and photos first, keep preparation within enamel, and make the veneers in their own laboratory so shade and shape are adjusted in the chair. If a tooth genuinely needs a crown, you are told so and why.
The honest limits: veneers cannot straighten severely crowded teeth — that is orthodontics — and they are not indestructible; biting nails, opening packets or grinding at night without a guard will chip them. They cover the front of the tooth only, so the bite surface of back teeth is treated with crowns. And once a tooth has been prepared for a veneer it will always need one; the decision is permanent.

Techniques and options
E-max laminate veneers
Lithium disilicate veneers pressed or milled in the on-site laboratory, 0.3–0.7 mm thick, bonded with a light-cured resin cement. The standard for front teeth: strong, translucent and colour-stable, with a 10-year written warranty.
Digital smile design
Photos and a scan of your teeth and face are used to design the new smile — tooth length relative to the lip, width proportions, midline, shade — before any tooth is touched. A trial (mock-up) of the design is placed over your teeth so you can see and approve it on day one.
Minimal preparation and no-prep veneers
Where teeth are small or set back, veneers can be bonded with almost no enamel removal. Where teeth are forward or bulky, more shaping is needed to avoid a thick result. The design decides; the aim is always the least removal that gives a natural outcome.
Temporaries
After preparation, temporary veneers made from the design protect the teeth and let you preview the shape for a day or two while the laboratory makes the finals.
Try-in and bonding
The veneers are tried in with water-soluble paste to check fit, shade and the smile line, adjusted, then bonded one by one under rubber dam for a dry field. The bite is checked and polished; a night guard is made for grinders.
What happens on surgery day

Before you travel: send clear photos of your smile (relaxed, smiling, close-up of the teeth) and say what you would like changed. The clinical team proposes the number of veneers, whether any tooth needs a crown instead, and a written price.

Day 1: examination, cleaning if needed, digital scan and photos, the smile design and a mock-up placed over your teeth for approval. Shade chosen with you in daylight.

Day 2: preparation under local anaesthetic — the enamel is shaped within the planned limits — a final scan is taken, and temporaries are fitted.

Days 3–4: the on-site laboratory presses or mills the veneers and characterises the shade and surface.

Recovery timeline
Days 1–2 after bonding
Mild sensitivity to cold and a slightly "big" feeling as the tongue adjusts. Avoid staining food and drink for 48 hours while the cement fully cures.
Week 1
Gums settle around the new margins; sensitivity fades. Normal eating, but nothing very hard on the front teeth.
Weeks 2–4
Fully adapted; speech and bite feel normal. Any high spot on the bite is adjusted by your local dentist or reported to us.
Long term
Normal brushing and flossing; night guard if advised; check-ups every 6–12 months. Veneers commonly last 10–15 years or more.
Results — and their limits
A brighter, even smile that looks like your own teeth improved rather than replaced — the shade and translucency of E-max are what make the difference from opaque, uniform crowns.
E-max veneers carry a 10-year written warranty in your name and commonly last 10–15 years or longer with care; the bonded tooth stays alive and largely intact.
Porcelain does not stain like enamel, so the shade stays stable; the natural teeth around it can still darken, which is why the number of veneers is planned to the smile line.
A veneered tooth needs a veneer for life; if one ever chips it is replaced individually, which is why the laboratory keeps your design on file.

How to prepare
- 1.Send photos of your smile relaxed, smiling naturally and close-up; describe what you dislike and any photos of smiles you like on a similar face.
- 2.Have any decay or gum problems treated at home first, or allow a day for treatment here.
- 3.Decide on shade honestly: the most natural results are one or two shades lighter than the whites of your eyes, not brighter.
- 4.If you want whiter natural teeth around the veneers, whiten first so the veneers are matched to the final shade.
- 5.Plan 5–7 nights; bring a lip balm — appointments involve a lot of retraction.
Aftercare at home
