Where we arrange gender-affirming surgery

Thailand is where we arrange gender-affirming surgery: vaginoplasty, FtM top and bottom surgery, facial feminisation and voice surgery. Everything else on this site is arranged in Turkey. These operations ask for weeks rather than days in the country, and the page below is about planning that honestly.

We are a medical travel coordinator, not a clinic. For gender-affirming surgery we proceed with the partner hospital suited to your case, and the hospital and surgeon are named in your written plan before you commit to anything — which one it is depends on the operation, your anatomy and your documentation. We do not publish clinic names, ratings or patient numbers here: the verified documentation behind the figures on this site belongs to our Kuşadası partners in Turkey, and we will not present unverified claims about anyone else as fact.

Getting there

  • ✈Fly to Bangkok. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) has direct flights from most major European hubs at around 10–12 hours, and from the Gulf, Australia and East Asia with wide choice; Don Mueang (DMK) handles most low-cost and regional traffic. Phuket (HKT) and Chiang Mai (CNX) are the other international gateways.
  • ✈Entry rules are the part people get wrong. Many nationalities enter visa-exempt, and that allowance is comfortable for a facial or chest surgery trip but can be shorter than a staged bottom-surgery plan needs. Check your own current entitlement before you book, and plan an extension or the correct visa in advance — sorting it out after arrival, while recovering from surgery, is the worst time to deal with it.
  • ✈Book a changeable return flight. Clearance to fly after surgery is a medical decision made by the surgical team, not a date you can set in advance, and a fixed ticket is the thing that pushes people to fly before they should.
  • ✈You are met at arrivals and driven to the hotel or hospital; airport, hospital and clinic transfers are part of the plan.

Your stay

  • •Your plan includes hotel accommodation for the part of the stay after you leave hospital, close enough to the hospital that a wound check is a short drive rather than an expedition.
  • •Plan the length of stay by the operation, not by the holiday: about 10 days for chest surgery, 2–3 weeks for facial surgery, 3–4 weeks for vaginoplasty, and 4–6 weeks per stage for FtM bottom surgery. The exact figure is in your written plan.
  • •Bring a companion if you can, particularly for genital surgery — you will not be independent in the first week. Their room is quoted with the plan; their flights and meals are not included.
  • •Rooms are booked on the basis that you may need to extend. If the surgical team keeps you longer, the stay is extended rather than the flight brought forward.

Treatments available in Thailand

Around your treatment

  • •Be honest with yourself about what this trip is. After genital surgery you will spend most of it resting, walking short distances and attending appointments — not sightseeing. People who plan a holiday around major surgery usually end up disappointed by both.
  • •Heat and humidity matter here more than in a Mediterranean trip: fresh wounds, dressings and compression garments are harder work in a tropical climate, and sun on healing scars is to be avoided for a year. Air-conditioned accommodation is not a luxury in this plan.
  • •After facial or chest surgery the second week is usually comfortable enough for cafés, short walks and quiet days out, and Bangkok is an easy city to do very little in. Swimming, the sea, pools and anything strenuous wait for surgical clearance.
  • •A companion with nothing to do for three weeks will want a plan of their own. Day trips out of Bangkok, and the coast, are within easy reach for them even when they are not for you.

Frequently asked questions

Why Thailand for these operations and Turkey for everything else?
Because that is where the surgical experience in these specific operations sits, and in this field a team’s case volume in the exact procedure matters more than its general reputation. We are open about the split rather than pretending we do everything in one place.
How long will I actually be in Thailand?
About 10 days for FtM top surgery, 2–3 weeks for facial feminisation, 3–4 weeks for vaginoplasty, and 4–6 weeks per stage for FtM bottom surgery. Your written plan gives the figure for your case, and the return date is set by the surgical team’s clearance rather than by your ticket.
Which hospital will I be treated in?
The partner hospital suited to your case, named in your written plan before you commit to anything, along with the surgeon. It is not one hospital for every case — the operation and your documentation decide.
What about the visa, if I need to stay six weeks?
Check your own current entitlement before booking, because a visa-exempt stay can be shorter than a staged plan needs, and rules change. Arrange the extension or the correct visa in advance; dealing with immigration while recovering from surgery is avoidable and miserable.
Can I combine treatment in Thailand with treatment in Turkey?
Not in the same trip, and we would not suggest it. Both are real journeys with their own recovery, and stacking them means flying long-haul while healing. If you want both, they are planned as separate trips with the sequencing that suits your recovery.
What happens if there is a problem once I am home?
Minor problems are usually managed locally, which is why identifying a doctor at home before you travel is part of the preparation. For anything needing the surgical team, contact us: we hold your plan and operative documentation and we are the route back to the hospital that treated you — including for later stages.
