After surgery, you’ll be on a liquid diet for the first two weeks. After that, you’ll be on a puree diet for the next two weeks. Following that, you should try to resume eating “regular” meals around a month after your surgery. Following surgery and before release, you will receive complete instructions on the meals to be consumed as well as advice from the nutritionist and our staff. You will have three little meals every day, spaced no more than 4-5 hours apart, after 4-5 weeks. The long-term goal is to have three meals the size of a tea plate each day, with healthy snacks like fruit, yoghurt, or raw almonds in between.Due to the changes in stomach hormone levels, you will only be able to consume very little meals following surgery and most likely won’t feel hungry. Within a year following your operation, it’s normal for your portion sizes to rise to a beginning portion or child’s size.
